AiM 0-5 Bar (0-72 psi) Pressure Sensor RS2 Configuration

AiM 0-5 Bar (0-72 psi) Pressure Sensor RS2 Configuration

AiM 0-5 Bar Pressure Sensor: Race Studio 2 Configuration

Because of the limitations of the sensor menu in Race Studio 2, AiM are being very selective about which sensors are added to the list. The AiM 0-5 Bar Fluid Pressure Sensor (Pegasus Part No. MC-359) has not been added to the list, so you must add it before you can use it. You can either import the Sensor Configuration File (SCF) directly into RS2, or you can configure it manually as a custom sensor.

Option 1: Direct SCF Import

If you are comfortable navigating files using Windows Explorer and extracting .ZIP files, you can download the .ZIP file by clicking this link:

AiM Pressure Sensor 0-5 bar Sensor Configuration File

This will automatically place the file into your Downloads folder by default. Please let us know if the link does not work for you! We will also be happy to send the file to you via email. (If you are not comfortable with this method, please feel free to skip to Option 2.)

Next, open your Downloads folder and find the .ZIP file, which should be named "AiM_0-5_bar_X05PSA00005B38.zip" by default. (You can also click "Show in Folder" or "Open Folder" on the download status bar to get to it directly.) Double-click on the .ZIP file to extract or unzip the .csn file. Extract it to a convenient folder location you will remember. You can even leave it in your Downloads folder (it doesn't need to be saved to an AiM folder).

In Race Studio 2, click on "Customize Sensor", then click "Import Sensors". Navigate to where you saved the .csn file, select the saved file, and click OK.

In the "Select Sensor" box, click on "AiM 0-5 bar (X05PSA00005B38)." You can now use the "Sensor name" box to give the sensor a name you can remember and recognize (you don't need to leave the complicated name, but you can). If you choose to keep the original name, just leave the "Sensor name" field blank.

Click "Save sensor" and then "Exit". The sensor will now be listed under the name you gave it.

Option 2: Configure Custom Sensor

If you do not like navigating files using Windows Explorer, or if you can't find the file you just downloaded, building the sensor is quick and easy in RS2.

In Race Studio 2, click on "Customize Sensor". In the "Type of measure" box, select "Pressure" and set the measure units to "bar" (even if you want the dash to display psi).

Enter the following values in the first two rows of the table:

x [mV] y [bar]
500 0
4500 5

Click on "Compute Curve". You should now see a straight diagonal line on the graph.

In the "Sensor name" box, type in a meaningful name for the new sensor. AiM suggests naming it "AiM 0-5 bar (X05PSA00005B38)", but you can name it Fred if you want to. Fred the Pressure Sensor. It's your choice. Bob Ross would love that. The next owner might not. Unless his name is Fred.

Click "Save sensor" and then "Exit".

Last Step: Add the Sensor to Your AiM Dash/Logger Configuration

Click on "Device Configuration". Select your device and then your configuration (or start a new configuration if necessary).

Under the Channels tab, select the desired channel to use the sensor. The sensor will now be listed in the "Sensor type" drop-down under the name you gave it.

If you want the dash to display psi instead of Bar, you can change it in the Measure unit column. Remember that 50 Bar is 72 psi, so be sure the High scale value is set to 72.

Remember to Transmit your new configuration to your AiM unit!

AiM 0-5 Bar Pressure Sensor: Race Studio 3 Configuration

This sensor is already listed in RS3 (version 3.29.11 and later).

When configuring the channel, first set Function to "Pressure". This sensor is listed as "AiM 0-5 bar (X05PSA00005Bxx)" (2 x's at the end) -- note that this is different than the "AiM 0-5 bar abs (X05PSA00005Bxxx)" (3 x's).

Remember to Transmit your new configuration to your AiM unit!
