Hylomar Sealants & Adhesives

Genuine Hylomar sealant is perfect for sealing gearbox covers or any other parts that need to be disassembled easily and without a lot of scraping to clean up the residue. Seals gaps up to .010 inch. Since it never hardens, it allows much longer working times during assembly and it makes disassembly a snap. Simply wipe parts clean with acetone or tolulene. By contrast, RTV must be thoroughly scraped off the sealing surfaces. A hardened piece of RTV residue left between mating surfaces can actually cause dents in cast aluminum! Hylomar sealant is not recommended for long-term assembly, or where parts are subjected to flexing (such as transaxle side covers). We recommend RTV for those applications.
