In 2004, I rebuilt my Formula Ford, including fresh wiring and new switches from a local electronics supply store. At the car's fourth race that season, the engine just refused to start. I cranked until the jumper battery was almost dead, but it never started. I switched off the ignition and watched helpless as the rest of the field pulled away from the grid. In desperation, I switched the ignition back on and hit the starter -- the engine fired immediately! After only three races, the cheap ignition switch had already begun to fail. Even when the switch was turned on, sometimes it wasn't really switched on. I had tried to save a couple of dollars on the ignition switch, but it almost cost me a DNS. Don't make the same mistake!
