Universal Square Catch Can / Expansion Tank Kit, 2 Quart

To prevent spilling fluids on the track, most racing organizations require engine breather vents to be routed into a catch bottle. SCCA requires a catch bottle with at least one quart capacity. This complete kit makes it easy to add an SCCA-legal catch tank to just about any car.

The lightweight rectangular catch bottle is made from high temperature plastics to help minimize deformation from hot oil and coolant. (You should still take care to keep it clear of heat sources above 250°F to prevent heat damage.) Molded nipples at the top and bottom allow this bottle to be used as a coolant expansion tank if desired. For catch tank use, plug or cap the bottom nipple.* Both nipples accept 3/8" hose (included). Translucent plastic makes it easy to see how much fluid has collected inside without removing the screw-on cap.

The universal steel wire-frame mounting bracket provided can easily be attached to any panel or chassis tube. Two loops at the top of the basket accept 1/4" mounting screws (included), but you can also use hose clamps (sold separately) to mount to chassis tubing. Measures 6" wide x 4 1/2" deep x 8" high (6 3/8" wide x 5" deep including mounting bracket). The top inlet nipple and bottom outlet nipples are on opposite sides. The tank can be rotated 180 degrees in the bracket (i.e., top inlet pointing right and bottom outlet pointing left or vice-versa). Tank and bracket together weigh 14.5 oz empty. Full 2 quart capacity exceeds SCCA minimum requirement. Includes 4 feet of clear plastic hose and mounting hardware.

* For an easy-drain catch tank, attach a 3/8" hose to the bottom nipple. Plug the hose and secure it to the mounting basket, pointing as high as possible. When you need to empty the tank, simply run the hose down to your drain pan and remove the plug.
