Protect your legs from cuts and bruises! This flexible tow loop fulfills the requirements for a towing eye without a dangerous obstacle sticking out of the bumper. Traditional rigid tow hooks can cause damage to competitors' cars, to your trailer, and to your shins.
The 2 inch wide polyester tow loop is sewn to a metal mounting plate. The plate has an 8mm (5/16") mounting hole and a slight bend for webbing clearance. The bright red loop hangs down for safety when not in use. Measures 9 3/4" from the mounting hole to the end of the loop (10" long overall). Sold individually; mounting hardware not included. Complies with FIA Appendix J, Article 253 requirements.
How strong is this tow strap? OMP tests the strength of their tow straps by simulating the load of the heaviest FIA GT car being towed out of a gravel trap. The strap is bolted to a rigid test fixture and then subjected to a series of 5 loads of 2000 kg (4400 lb), plus 3 further pulls at a speed of 100 mm / min (4 inches per second). If the strap breaks, it does not pass. In fact, the strength of the assembly is limited by the steel bolt tab!
Note: To acheive this level of strength, a double-shear mount is recommended. Use only high-quality hardware for mounting.
