The S-shaped receptacle springs for Dzus-type quarter-turn fasteners are available in several different "heights" to accommodate different panel thicknesses. That also means that you never seem to have the correct height on hand for your application! This tool makes it easy to change the height of your receptacle spring to fit your installation.
Simply install the spring as you normally would, then attach this tool in place of your stud (you don't need the removable panel in place). Turn the handle clockwise to pull the spring in lower (to fit a thicker assembly). Turn the knob counterclockwise and push down to move the spring out higher (to fit a thinner assembly). You can also use the tool to fine-tune the spring tension for a tighter or looser fit. Works with receptacle springs for both 5/16" and 3/8" fasteners.
Pro Tip: Don't leave this tool in the shop. Bring it with you to the track! If a body section takes a beating, the spring receptacles can get bent. Using this tool to massage them back into shape can make the rest of the weekend go a lot easier.
