Ring gear bolts are subjected to incredible stresses, especially in racing applications. All of the torque going through two tire contact patches has to first pass through the ring gear bolts. A drag launch represents an explosive shock load, while road racing generates cyclical loads with upshifts and downshifts. You need bolts that are up to the job!
ARP Pro Series ring gear bolts are forged from 8740 chrome moly alloy steel, then heat-treated to 200,000 psi tensile strength. Threads are then rolled (not cut) after heat treatment (not before) for superior strength and resistance to fatigue.
This bolt kit fits Ford 9" ring gears. Includes Ten 7/16-20 x 0.940" bolts with 5/8" 12-point heads.
Installation Note: These bolts are engineered for use without washers. Installing them with washers may cause the bolts to loosen, with potentially catastrophic results. Use Loctite 242 (Blue) Threadlocker (Part No. LT-24221, sold separately) on the bolt threads and ARP Ultra-Torque Assembly Lube (Part No. ARP100-9908, sold separately) under the bolt head.
