Brand: Loctite Products
The familiar medium-strength (blue) Loctite&treg; Nutlocker 242® is an excellent way to keep critical fasteners from loosening, but many racers struggle with the chemistry. Loctite recommends the use of a special primer on certain "inactive" metals like aluminum, titanium, magnesium and stainless steel, as well as black oxide, cad plating, and zinc plating -- which is pretty much everything racecars are made of! When it isn't convenient to use the primer, the new 243™ formula solves the problem!
Loctite 243 is a medium-strength nutlocker which prevents properly-torqued fasteners from loosening due to vibration, yet allows disassembly with hand tools. But unlike the original 242 formula, 243 Primerless will adhere to inactive metals without the need for primer. This is the perfect formula to keep in your trackside kit for emergency repairs when it might not be practical to carry a can of primer. Loctite 243 is also more tolerant of minor surface contamination from oil, so a quick cleaning is normally sufficient (you still do need to clean the threads). Temperature limits -100°F to 350°F (-75°C to 175°C). 6 ml tube.
