If your fuel-injected car stumbles under heavy g-loads due to fuel starvation from fuel sloshing away from the pickup, you can fix it by adding a surge tank or swirl pot. The obp Motorsport FST series of fuel surge tanks are easy to install in any fuel system, without requiring any modification to your fuel tank or cell.
Each FST tsnk is designed to accept an internal pump "cluster" (sold separately, several different versions available). This submerges a high-pressure pump (or two!) inside a tall, narrow column of fuel. When fuel sloshes away from your fuel pickup, the FST tank will continue to feed the high-pressure pump from its reservoir. You can even use your stock in-tank pump to feed the FST!
This aluminum tank holds up to 2 liters (1/2 gallon) of fuel, not accounting for the volume occupied by the pump(s). The compact 125mm OD x 200mm High (5" OD x 7 7/8" H) tank has six 6mm (1/4") holes in the base for easy mounting. It is designed to accept fuel pump clusters from obp, Fuelab, Protec, and the Aeromotive "Stealth" series.* The special "Dark Matter" matte black coating is resistant to all automotive fuels, from gasoline to alcohol to diesel. Weighs 2 pounds empty. Sold individually. Pump cluster and mounting hardware are not included.
* Internal height 185mm to the bottom of the cluster mounting flange. Note that some pump clusters may be too long to fit in this tank.
