Stop the leaks! Hewland Mk 8 / 9 gearboxes were never designed with any type of oil seal around the shift selector finger. This beautifully made kit positively seals the shift selector on either Hewland or Webster bearing carriers. Two seals (one inner and one outer) keep oil in and dirt out. Requires drilling and tapping three 6-32 holes in the bearing carrier. Retainer ring measures 1/4" thick (some customers have had to trim a little material off of the U-joint sleeve to get full engagement of 1st and 3rd gears).
We also carry an internal Selector Finger Bushing and Seal Kit for Webster Gearboxes to 1999 (Part No. 1412) and a Selector Finger Seal for Webster Gearboxes after 1999 (Part No. 1410-A20-9), which presses into a groove in the back of the bearing carrier.
Replacement parts available:
Replacement Lip (Outer) Seal (Part No. 1416-001, lower right in photo)
Replacement Quad-Ring (Inner) Seal (Part No. 1416-002, lower left in photo)
This kit includes both seals.
