This quick-release steering wheel hub from OMP does not use a conventional hex, splines, or even an ellipse. Instead, a unique arrangement of two parallel blades connect your wheel securely to your steering shaft. A single offset post ensures that the hub can only fit on one way, preventing a cockeyed steering wheel.
The blades provide a tighter fit than a hex, yet they are more tolerant of dirt than splines. The relatively large bearing surface minimizes wear (OMP recommends a dry PTFE lube for longest life). But one of the best features is a special taper at the end of the blades. This taper lets you simply push your wheel in place, without having to pull back on the release collar. Just line up the blades and push. The hub will snap securely in place!
This version includes an 11-pin electrical connector that eliminates sloppy coiled cords. When you mate the hub, the connector automatically plugs together. The hub portion has a gold-anodized release collar to meet FIA requirements. The unique 9-hole bolt pattern can accommodate both OMP/MOMO/Sparco/Sabelt/Raid 6-bolt steering wheels (6x70mm) and wheels drilled to the smaller SPA/Racetech 3-bolt pattern (3x50mm). The center slug portion is designed to bolt directly to any Momo or Sparco adapter hub, so no welding is needed! Adapter hubs are sold separately.
