Brand: OptiMATE Battery Chargers
The Bronze Series Optimate1 VoltMatic model is a fully-automatic 4-step charger that is suitable for 24/7/365 maintenance of just about any 6 volt or 12 volt lead-acid automotive or motorcycle battery between 2Ah and 28Ah capacity. It is sealed against mild weather (IP50) so it can be used indoors or in an open carport, in temperatures down to -4°F (-20°C).
Just hook it up to your 6 volt or 12 volt lead-acid battery (wet cell, gel cell, AGM or RG type) and forget it! You don't even have to select the battery voltage. There is never a risk of damage due to overcharging. Like all Optimate chargers, the VoltMatic starts with an automatic test of your battery condition and voltage. The AmpMatic senses the battery voltage and selects the appropriate charging program. If all is well, the 4-step charging proceeds from Low Volt Start, to Controlled Charge, to Optimize, and finally to OptiMATE Maintenance. If you disconnect the battery, the charger will automatically shut down.
The Optimate VoltMatic can save most batteries discharged as low as 4 volts. If the battery is fully charged when the charger is connected, the Optimate will help to compensate for normal power drains by alarm systems, stereo memory, ECU, etc. The 0.6 Amp constant charging current can charge an 8Ah battery in about 12 hours, or a 32Ah battery in about 48 hours (assuming no other power drain is present).
Operates on 100 - 240 VAC input voltage (50-60Hz). This version has a 2-prong North American (USA & Canada) plug built right into the case. Draws less than 0.5W when not connected to a battery (listed by the California Energy Efficiency Commission). Includes clamp-type charging cable and weatherproof ring terminal cable, each with a quick-release 2-pin SAE plug that connects to the 6 foot charge lead on the charger.
Note: If a 12-volt battery is discharged below 8 volts, it may initially register as a 6 volt battery. You can reset the VoltMatic and "force" it to the 12 volt charging program by plugging in the charger for 3 seconds with the leads connected to each other.
