The Optimate 6 Select model is a fully-automatic 6-step professional battery charger that is suitable for 24/7/365 maintenance of just about any 12 volt lead-acid automotive or motorcycle battery between 3Ah and 240Ah capacity, including "premium" AGM batteries designed for 14.7 Volt charing. It is sealed against weather (IP54) so it can be used indoors or outdoors, in temperatures down to -40°F (-40°C).
Just hook it up to your 12 volt lead-acid battery (wet cell, gel cell, AGM, RG, SLI, or deep-cycle), select the charging mode, and forget it! There is never a risk of damage due to overcharging. Like all Optimate chargers, the Optimate 6 Select starts with an automatic test of your battery condition. If all is well, the 9-step charging proceeds from Charge, to Optimize, then another Test. and finally to OptiMATE Maintenance. If the battery test reveals voltage between 0.5 and 12.4 volts, Save mode engages first. If the battery test indicates that the battery is sulphated or unable to hold a charge, Turbo Save kicks in. If you disconnect the battery, the charger will automatically shut down.
The Optimate 6 Select can save most batteries discharged as low as 0.5 volts. If the battery is fully charged when the charger is connected, the Optimate 6 will help to compensate for normal power drains by alarm systems, stereo memory, ECU, etc. You can even select Power Supply Mode to deliver a constant 13.6 volts for vehicle tuning or diagnostic work. The special AmpMatic feature automatically adjusts the charging amperage to suit the battery size, and Temperature Compensation automatically delivers more voltage in cold temperatures and lower voltage on hot days. Charging at a 6 Amp constant charging current can charge a 100Ah battery in about 18 hours (assuming no other power drain is present).
Operates on 100 - 240 VAC input voltage (50-60Hz). This version has a 6 foot AC supply cord with a 2-prong North American (USA & Canada) plug. Draws less than 0.5W when not connected to a battery (listed by the California Energy Efficiency Commission). Includes clamp-type charging cable and weatherproof ring terminal cable, each with a quick-release 2-pin SAE plug that connects to the 6 foot charge lead on the charger. The charger body features built-in wall mounts.
