Charge any 12 volt automotive, marine, or powersports battery without connecting to a power supply! This advanced solar charger from Optimate is ideal for situations where you can't plug into a wall: Camping, long days at the track, or even living off the grid. This is the perfect solution for charging your trailer brake battery in storage too.
The 3.33 Amp nominal charging rate is suitable for batteries from 2 to 240 Amp-hour capacity. Just hook it up to your battery (wet cell, gel cell, AGM or RG type 12V lead-acid, or 12.8V / 13.2V LiFePO4 Lithium) and forget it! The included Smart Controller automatically adjusts the charge to suit the battery type and condition. There is never a risk of damage due to overcharging.
Like all Optimate chargers, the Solar Duo starts with an automatic test of your battery condition. If all is well, the 4-step charging proceeds from Low Volt Start (with BMS Reset for LiFePO4), to Controlled Charge, to Optimize, and finally to OptiMATE Maintenance. Automatic SAVE mode can save most batteries discharged as low as 4 volts. And the Smart Controller automatically switches to Monitor mode at night when the sun goes down. If the battery charge drops overnight, it returns to Optimize mode in the morning.
Unlike some other solar chargers on the market, this complete kit includes everything you need to get started: Solar panel, controller, cables, even a folding stand and alternate mounts for the panel. You don't need to add anything but a battery and the sun! Operates purely on the power generated by the included 40W solar panel, no AC or DC power source required.*
* Overnight Monitor mode draws less than 0.5 mA from the battery.
The 24.3" x 14.2" solar panel (27" x 16.6" including frame) has a 6' 8" (2m) cord to connect to the Smart Controller. The controller has a 3' 6" (1m) cord with a 2-prong SAE connector at the end. The kit includes one set of clamp-type cables and one ring terminal cable, each with a quick-release 2-pin SAE plug that connects to the controller cord. The solar panel can be set up temporarily with the included folding stand or hard-mounted to a roof. The kit also includes a nylon carrying bag for travel use.
Note: Not for use with Ni-Cad, NiMH, Li-CO2, or Li-MnO2 battery types.
