SCCA requires a Seat Back Brace on all seats not carrying FIA certification and mounted to FIA standards. This strong, lightweight aluminum unit is designed to bolt to the back of your seat and clamp to the roll bar. No welding is required.
The compact brace can be set up at any length from 2 1/2" up to 13", making it ideal for multi driver cars. It can be used with just about any seat at any angle. The mounting plate measures 2 1/2" x 8" -- that's 20 sqaure inches of surface area.
Simply assemble the clamp-on mount to your rollcage brace (1 1/2" to 1 5/8" OD), bolt the mounting plate to your seat, and drill the support tube to accept the cross pin (included). For multiple positions, simply slide the seat to each position and drill the tube at the new position.* The quick-release cross pin lets you release the brace for quick adjustments during driver changes.
For added safety in side impacts, you can add a second brace to the side of the seat.
* Note: Many seat sliders allow very fine adjustments. Drilling too many cross pin holes too close together will weaken the support tube, rendering the brace ineffective. Please use common sense when drilling multiple cross pin holes! We recommend at least 1" between holes.
