This superb-quality quick-release steering wheel hub has virtually no play. This is the design used for many years by F1 and F3 constructors! A special asymmetric spline allows mating in only one orientation so you will never end up with a cock-eyed steering wheel. Releases easily with a spring-loaded sliding sleeve with four locking balls.
The hub and sleeve portion are CNC-machined aluminum, hard anodized for long life. The EN3B (SAE 1020) steel "slug" which gets welded and/or pinned to your steering shaft. The slug is 20mm (0.784") OD with a 6mm bore. If your steering shaft is larger than 7/8", bore a 20mm hole in the steering shaft and insert the slug. If the steering column is also 20mm OD, just add a sleeve over both.
The hub portion attaches to your steering wheel with a 50mm three hole pattern using 10-32 bolts. Most formula car wheels are supplied undrilled and will have to be drilled by the installer. We also offer a Euro QR Hub to 6-Bolt Steering Wheel Adapter (Part No. SP QRA-103, sold separately) to accept OMP, Momo, and Sparco wheels with the standard 6x70mm hole pattern.
This hub also features an integrated 8 pin Lemo connector set. The electrical connections are automatically engaged or disengaged when the steering wheel is installed or removed. This hub makes it easy to add a variety of functions to your steering wheel without having to fumble with a separate connector. Note that you will need to bore a hole in your steering shaft for the wires to exit.
