This extra-secure mount is compatible with the Garmin Catalyst Driving Performance Optimizer Kit, Part No. GRM-02345-00 (sold separately). The cage is designed to offer more secure mounting than the standard mount included in the Catalyst kit.
One end of the mount has a 2.5" round plate that you screw down to any solid part in your vehicle. The other end has a magnetic mount that connects your Catalyst to vehicle power (requires a power cord, not included with mount). In between is a connector arm with 1" pivot balls at each end to provide a wide range of adjustment and articulation. Mount includes a special low-profile magentic mount to replace the standard Catalyst magnetic mount (the standard mount will not fit in the cage). The standard Catalyst mount uses the same size ball pivots, so you can keep using the mount base that you've already installed.
