A crank scraper helps oil return to the oil pan by catching it before it is flung onto the side of the engine block. Our Formula Ford 1600 Crankshaft Scraper is slightly oversized for the tightest fit possible, and should be test-fit and trimmed prior to use. It is held in place by the oil pan bolts and the original oil sump pickup tube bolt.
The 22 gauge (0.030") steel construction is thick enough to be rigid but thin to minimize sealing issues. We recommend using a small bead of sealant between the scraper and the block and a small dab of sealant at each end of the scraper. Install the oil pan gasket between the scraper and the oil pan.
