This round, center-bolt style rubber flapper valve is used on most Fuel Safe 2.25" diameter remote fill valves and some remote fill plates. When you fill the cell, the rubber disc pushes out of the way to allow fuel in. In the event of a rollover, the rubber disc closes off the filler to minimize spilled fuel.
Rubber hardens with age, which can reduce the effectiveness of the flapper. It pays to check the condition of your flapper valve at least once a season.
Note: Standard fill plates (with the capped filler neck welded to the plate) usually use a different D-Shaped Rubber Flapper Valve (Part No. FS 1GAS05). which is held in place by two bolts.
