SCCA now requires an SFI- or FIA-approved fire system in any car registered after 01/01/2009. This system carries SFI 17.1 approval. It is also SCCA-legal in all older cars.
FE-36™ is the clean replacement for Halon. It has zero ozone depletion potential and performs comparably to Halon 1211, but with lower toxicity. The new Automatic / Manual FireBottle brand fire suppression systems can be activated manually by a remote pull cable, or automatically with the help of a 155 degree thermal head. When the temperature in the cockpit exceeds 155°F the system automatically triggers, dispensing all 10 pounds of extinguishant.
Kit contains a charged aluminum cylinder measuring 17.5" long by 5.25" diameter, one 5 foot pull cable, mounting bracket and 5 foot flame-resistant, flexible, stainless steel reinforced line with a 155°F thermal head. Includes 2 discharge nozzles, T-fitting, and 8 feet of aluminum tubing. Total weight is approximately 10 lbs.
