The original steering shaft support on 1998 and later Van Diemen chassis uses a very loose split race bearing. The excessive play in the stock part leads to a sloppy steering feel as well as premature wear. This beautifully machined aluminum support replaces the original part with a high-quality, PTFE-lined spherical bearing for smooth steering operation with no freeplay. The black anodized bracket includes a 7/8" bore bearing. Requires no modifications to the chassis.
Note 1: The OD of the original Van Diemen steering shaft can vary by +/- 0.001". If your steering shaft is slightly oversized, a light polish with an abrasive pad will allow it to slip into the new bearing.
Note 2: Once your steering shaft is fitted to the bearing, use a drop of Loctite 609 Green Bearing Mount (Part No. LT-60921, sold separately) to prevent the shaft from rotating inside the bearing and grinding on the shaft OD. Failure to do this could eventually cause a loose fit in the bearing and excessive play.
