Tempilaq Temperature Indicating Paint is used by top racing teams to document temperatures that are difficult or impossible to measure during actual use. On race cars, Tempilaq is most useful on brake discs and pads but can also be used on other components such as exhaust systems. It is also great in the shop for monitoring welding temperatures.
Tempilaq paint has a calibrated melting point that leaves an indication when a specific temperature has been reached. To use Tempilaq, apply a thin coating to the test specimen. The paint dries almost instantly with a dull matte finish. If the rated temperature is exceeded during use, the coating will become glossy, thus leaving a permanent indication that the temperature was reached. The exposure time required is much shorter than many other brands, which allows Tempilaq to record very brief temperature peaks.
Our complete kit includes one 2 oz brush top bottle of 850, 950, 1000, 1100 and 1200 (degrees F) temperature indicating paint and one bottle of thinner. A foam-lined plastic case keeps everything organized and protected.
We also offer individual refill bottles of Tempilaq Temperature Indicating Paint separately.
