This 1st/Reverse slider gear is installed on the pinion shaft of Hewland or Webster Mk4, Mk6, Mk8, and Mk9 / Formula Mazda gearboxes (4-speed or 5-speed). Hewland part number HC8-5-231HB.
Requires Hewland 1st / Reverse Hub for 5-Speed Mk 8 / Mk 9 Gearbox (Part No. 1410-A42-95H, sold separately). Will not fit Webster hub.
Note: This "HB" version slider has a 0.118" deep x 2.625" OD relief cut out of the front (compared to the original slider design). This modification has been done to compensate for the thicker pinion shaft front bearing (ring nut style) sourced by Hewland in 1997. It is still compatible with earlier ring nut bearings (as well as our ring nut bearing) and 4-bolt plate bearings.
