This cleanable, reusable filter element is designed as a secondary inspection filter, such as on the suction side of a dry sump system. The 400 mesh pleated screen filter traps particles as small as 40 microns, so it can even be used as a primary filter in applications where flow is more important than filtering. Not recommended for street use.
Short 2 5/8" filter fits Canton 4.25" oil filter housings including the Canton 4.25 Inch Spin-On Oil Filter (Part No. 1283-Size) and Canton 4 Inch Remote Mount Oil Filters (formarly Part Nos. 1282 and CM 25-006B). Elements are sold individually.
* Partciles measuring 40 microns (0.00158") are just barely too small to see without magnification. 320 grit sandpaper uses particles of about 36 micron diameter. Your crankshaft was probably polished using a belt with 23 micron particles.
Note: Not for use as the only oil filter! Never use this element in place of a spin-on filter.
