This stud could save you $1000 in labor costs alone!
If one of the side plate studs on your Hewland gearbox pulls out of the case, you can repair the stripped threads with a Perma-Coil insert. But if anything goes wrong with the insert, you have to throw out an otherwise useable case. Not anymore!
This special step stud can give you a second chance to save your valuable gearbox case. The M8 threads on one end fit original the side plate hole and accept the same M8 nut as the original stud, but the other end has larger M10 threads. This allows you to re-drill the hole another size larger if the first oversize threads strip. Requires no modification to the side plate. Sold individually.
Note: The top studs (1 o'clock position on the left side and 11 o'clock on the right) are installed in very tight quarters. The holes for these studs are just barely deep enough for the M8 size. You may need to shorten the M10 end to prevent bottoming out or breaking through the case.
