Most common fuel hose is a two-layer compromise: A fuel-resistant inner liner with a tougher (but chemically sensitive) outer layer. It works great in the engine bay, but if you submerge it in the tank the fuel will eat the outer layer.
This special hose from Gates is designed specifically for use inside the fuel tank. Both the inner and outer layers are fully compatible with modern pump gasoline, alcohol blends to E85, and diesel fuel. The fluoroelastomer cover resists fuel permeation, and an aramid fabric reinforcement between the layers gives it a 100 psi pressure rating. It is excellent for connecting an in-tank pump to the pickup. Installs easily on most common barbed fittings (sold separately). Maximum temperature 302° F (150° C). Meets SAE J30R10 specifications for submersible fuel hose. Sold by the inch. (For example, if you need one foot, please order 12 inches.)
Not recommended for use outside the fuel tank. This hose is not designed to withstand environmental hazards such as abrasion and exposure to weather.
