Heat shrink tubing shrinks to half its original diameter when heat is applied. Insulates and protects individual connections or entire wiring harnesses. Provides a strain relief that protects against vibration damage. A heavy-duty hot air gun is recommended for shrinking, but a high-wattage hair dryer can also be used. Original 0.062" ID shrinks to 0.031" ID.
Tech Tip: Clear Heat-Shrink Tubing is also useful for labelling wires in a wiring harness. Just print out your series of numbers or circuit identifiers on a laser printer using a small type size. Cut them out, wrap the paper around the wire, and secure in place with the heat shrink tubing. Click here for more information about labeling and identifying circuits in wiring harnesses.
