This translucent heat shrink tubing shrinks to one-third its original diameter when heat is applied. The translucent red color is perfect for insulating and protecting individual connections on 20-18 gauge wires.
The special dual-wall tubing has an adhesive lining that melts as the tubing shrinks to positively seal out moisture. It also gives the tubing a firm grip on the wire to provide a strain relief that protects against vibration damage. The red tint matches the industry-standard coloring for 20-18 gauge wire terminals. Wire gauge size (18-20 AWG) is also printed on the tubing for easy size identification.
Operating temperature range after shrinking is -55° C to 110° C (-67° F to 230° F). Requires 135° C (275° F) for shrinking. A heavy-duty hot air gun is recommended for shrinking (hair dryers do not normally get hot enough). Original 0.215" ID shrinks to 0.045" ID (1:3 shrink ratio). Meets MIL-DTL-23053/4-301-2 specifications.
