If you need to cut a lot of plastic tubing, a swing-type cutter with a wheel can take a while. The Model 342A ratcheting shears from Beta Tools are designed to quickly cut plastic tubing up to 2" (50mm) outside diameter.
The ratcheting mechanism gives you a mechanical advantage, requiring less hand strength than single-pull shears do. Each squeeze of the plier-type handles brings the blade jaw down a little closer to the anvil jaw. The ratchet releases when the tubing is cut, but a manual release lets you abort the cutting operation. The cutting edge has a V-shape to act like a double wedge, and the blade is easily replaced when it gets dull or damaged. Measures 270mm (10 5/8") long overall. Weighs 555g (1 lb 4 oz). Beta orange. The model number is printed in black on the side of the handle.
