If you need to cut a lot of plastic tubing, a swing-type cutter with a wheel can take too long. The Model 342P ratcheting shears from Beta Tools are designed to quickly cut plastic tubing up to 2" (50mm) outside diameter. The strong but lightweight magnesium alloy body is designed specifically for daily professional use.
The ratcheting mechanism gives you a mechanical advantage, requiring less hand strength than single-pull shears do. Each squeeze of the plier-type handles brings the blade jaw down a little closer to the anvil jaw. The ratchet releases when the tubing is cut, but a manual release lets you abort the cutting operation. The blade retracts into the body for safety when not in use. The cutting edge has a V-shape to act like a double wedge, and the quick-change blade is easily replaced when it gets dull or damaged. Measures 260mm (10 1/4") long overall. Weighs just 450g (1 lb). Beta orange with black on the back of one handle.
