Measuring brake disc thickness with conventional measuring tools is tricky at best. Common Vernier or dial calipers risk hanging up on the wider unworn "lip" around the outer edge.
The 1650FD from Beta Tools is a special type of caliper specifically designed for measuring brake disc thickness. The contacts sit slightly proud of the jaws to avoid the outer lip on the disc, and they are pointed to minimize riding on the tops of ridges in the friction surface. The scale can read up to 60mm thickness in 0.1mm increments for accurate machining. Overall length 175mm, weighs 250g. Sold individually.
