Are you just about ready to give up on trying to seal the stock steel valve cover on your FF1600 engine? Are your fellow drivers just about ready to report you to the EPA? Gasket Innovations has the answer!
This precision gasket has been designed specifically for the original steel valve cover on the Ford "Kent" pushrod engine. The high-temperature silicone construction allows the gasket to crush -- without extruding outwards -- much more than the stock cork gasket for better sealing. The extended positioning tabs provide better retention than the stock tabs to resist the crankcase pressure and vacuum in dry-sump engines.
Simply clean your valve cover, spread a thin bead of RTV sealant around the flange to hold the gasket in place, and install the gasket. Let the silicone cure at least 8 hours (24 hours is ideal) before installing the cover. The silicone is so soft and conformable, it needs very little pressure to seal. Screwing the fasteners down just past finger-tight is usually enough! When it's time to adjust the valves, the gasket will stay with the valve cover. The gasket is reusable indefinitely, which means it could be the last valve cover gasket you will ever buy! Sold individually.
Fits the original Ford steel valve cover on 1600cc Kent Crossflow pushrod engines (except the Fiesta valve cover). For use with steel valve covers and the Ford Racing aluminum valve cover (Ford Racing part number M-6582-16K). Not for use with Titan or other aluminum valve covers that require a flat paper gasket. Does not fit most Ford industrial engines.
