ITG air filters use a multi-stage foam for excellent airflow with great filtration. The ITG Raceair JC71 air filter has a distinctive rounded "sausage" top. This style was originally designed for Cosworth DFV (3-liter V8 F3000) and DFZ (3.5-liter Formula 1) engines, but it has also become popular on 1600cc 4-cylinder FA/FB/F3 engines (such as the Cosworth BDA/BDD).
The JC71 element is a more compact version of the popular JC70, designed for tight installations where a JC70 might not fit. The JC71 measures 5.2" Wide x 17.8" Long x 3.1" High outside (135mm x 451mm x 85mm) and 4" W x 15 1/4" L x 2 3/4" W inside (103mm x 388mm x 70mm). The element is held to the base plate (not included) by miniature fasteners recessed into the element (accessible from above) for the lowest profile. Sold individually. Filter only, base plate not included.
ITG filters are supplied dry and must be oiled prior to use. ITG recommends the use of Rock Oil Eco Foam Air Filter Oil (Part No. 3818-001, sold separately). Extensive testing of Rock Oil against other foam filter oils has shown that ITG filters treated with Rock Oil actually outlasted filters treated with other oils (including brands previously recommended by ITG)!
Note: Unlike the ITG Megaflow range, this Raceair filter has a 2-stage foam element (coarse and medium only) for ultimate airflow. It will not capture as much fine dust as the 3-stage Megaflow filters. The JC71 is for racing use only.
