This direct-acting throwout bearing eliminates all lost motion due to cable stretch or linkage flex. The compact size (just 3" high with a 3 x 3" bolt circle) makes it small enough to be adapted to almost any transmission including larger Hewland and Weismann units. Most applications will require fabrication of an adapter plate.
The radius-faced bearing has a 54mm contact diameter for clutches with a 1 7/8" diaphragm spring hole. This includes Tilton 8.5" and ST-215 clutches, as well as most AP Racing 4.5", 5.5", and 7.25" racing clutches. Maximum travel is 0.70 inches, so a clutch pedal stop must be used to prevent damage to the clutch and the engine. Tilton recommends pairing this assembly with a 3/4" bore master cylinder (sold separately).* Includes 3AN male adapters for inlet and outlet.
We also stock the Tilton Hydraulic Release Bearing Rebuild Kit (Part No. 163-51).
* The 54mm bearing can also be used on 7 1/4" Tilton OT-II clutches, but the release effort will be much higher than a 44mm bearing. Using a smaller master cylinder will help to reduce pedal effort (at the expense of pedal travel).
Note: This unit replaces Part No. TE 60-3000 and the older Tilton 61-300 (Pegasus Part No. 163-50), both of which had a 52mm bearing.
