Stainless steel cable ties are ideal for use where high temperatures are encountered. Standard nylon cable ties are only rated to 185° F (85° C), but these ties are constructed of 304 stainless for a maximum temperature rating of 986° F (530° C)*.
Instead of a tab in the head and serrations along the stem, these ties have a small ball bearing in the head that bears against a ramp on one side and the tie stem on the other. The harder the tie is pulled open, the harder the ball digs in. This also eliminates any issues with one serration being too loose and the next being too tight.
The stem of this heavy-duty version measures 8mm Wide x 0.25mm Thick (0.313" W x 0.010" T). The head measures 10mm Wide x 4.6mm Thick x 15mm Long (0.4" W x 0.183" T x 0.585" L). The stem has a very short tapered section at the end, so you don't end up with a long unusable tail. The heavy-duty series have a 250 pound strength rating.*
This nominal 20" tie has a 517mm (20 3/8") overall length including the head and a taper at the tip of the stem, leaving an effective length of 498mm (19 5/8"). Suitable for bundle diameters between 3/4" and 6 1/2" (165mm). Sold individually.
Note: The 250 lb strength rating applies to temperatures up to 112° F (44° C). Derate above 112° F up to the maximum 986° F temperature.
