The quick-disconnect ring terminal leads are a great way to keep your vehicle ready to accept your OptiMate charger, but having the SAE pigtail hanging loose isn't great for safety or for looks. Plus, it can be tough to make the 2-pin connection when you're wearing heavy gloves. The revolutionary MagCode® magnetic connector solves those issues and more!
The heart of the MagCode system is a round plastic connector port at one end of the leads. Inside the round connector are two contacts (one positive, one negative). An interlocking groove on the circumference keeps the male connector centered on this female receptacle. A single notch in the groove ensures correct alignment and prevents reverse polarity. If the tooth on the male connector is not in the notch, the contacts can't touch! A magnet embedded in each connector side holds the connectors together but releases with a simple tug.
This "Port" connector end is housed in a panel-mounted fitting with a protective cover. The other end of the 40 inch (1m) leads features the "large" OptiMate convertible rings that can fit M8 or M10 (5/16" or 3/8") terminals. Suitable for use with any OptiMate 6 Volt or 12 Volt charger or maintainer. The 16 AWG wire size is rated for 10 Amps continuous duty (13A intermittent), and an inline 15A fuse is provided for extra protection. Includes panel mounting hardware. Sold individually. Installation requires drilling a 35mm (1 3/8") hole plus four 4mm (5/32") holes in your panel. The mounting flange measures 48mm (1 7/8") square.
