Did the driver react to a slide, or did he cause the car to understeer? Measure and log driver steering input with the AiM Steering Angle Sensor. Includes a rotary potentiometer with a male 4-pin 719 connector, 2 toothed pulleys, 1 toothed belt, and 1 sensor mounting bracket.
The steering shaft pulley is designed to fit a 7/8" diameter shaft. Smaller shafts will need to add a bushing to fit the pulley. This sensor is designed to measure up to 10 complete turns of the steering column.
This sensor can connect directly to the AiM MXL Pista / Pro dash, MXL2 / MXG / MXS dashes, or the EVO3 and EVO5 series data loggers. The MyChron3 XG-Log dash and the EVO4 / EVO4S loggers require the addition of a 712-719 Patch Cable (Part No. MC-210, sold separately).
We also offer the Replacement AiM Steering Angle Sensor Belt (Part No. MC-336) separately.
Pro Tip: When mounting the sensor, locate the mount a little farther away than you might expect and use shims to bring the supplied bracket closer. If the belt tension is too loose, remove a shim or two to adjust.
If your steering column is larger than 7/8", consider using the AiM String Pot Steering Angle Sensor (Part No. MC-280) instead. The String Pot can work with any diameter steering shaft.
