This fire suppression system from FireBottle is SFI Certified (SFI Spec 17.1) and SCCA legal for all cars!
The FK-5-1-12 fire suppressing agent (commercially known as 3M™ Novec™ 1230) is the latest "green" replacement for ozone-depleting Halon. FK‑5‑1‑12 is ozone-friendly, non-corrosive (safe for electronics), alcohol-resistant (effective on methanol fires), and non-conductive (effective on Electric and Hybrid vehicles as well as Lithium battery fires). It is stored as a liquid under pressure that releases as a gas, which means zero cleanup afterwards. Unlike Halon (and many of its replacements), FK‑5‑1‑12 is non-toxic, which makes it ideal for use in confined spaces.
The complete system includes an aluminum bottle (filled and pressurized, ready for use), a 5-foot pull cable, a bottle mounting bracket with straps, 8 feet of 1/4" aluminum tubing, fittings, and 3 discharge nozzles. The bottle measures 5 1/4" OD x 19" Long overall including the firing head. Overall system weight 17 pounds.
Note that the SFI 17.1 standard requires fire systems to be inspected and re-certified every 2 years, with a maximum life span of 6 years. Most sanctioning bodies (including SCCA) will not accept a fire system that is past is service date.
