Our Custom-Made Throttle Cables feature stud ends which are crimped on the cable using a press and special tools. This results in a very strong cable, but it requires precise measurement to ensure the correct length. We have many customers with broken or badly stretched cables who need to finish their cables themselves, but they don't have the tooling to crimp the stud end to the cable.
This clever stud end clamps on to a bare cable (such as our 1/16" aircraft cable) to add a 10-32 threaded stud to your cable. Use it to shorten an existing cable, repair a broken cable, or finish a custom cable. The 10-32 male stud measures 3/4" long, and the female receptacle portion measures 0.72" long by 5/16" OD. The entire part is just under 1 1/2" long overall. The ID of the female portion is 1/16" and accepts a stranded or solid-core cable. Includes the proper 5/64" hex key for the setscrew.
For best results, we recommend using Loctite 609 (Green) Retaining Compound (LT-60921, sold separately) on the cable for maximum strength. The hole for the setscrew runs all the way through the receptacle, so a second setscrew (8-32 size, not included) can be installed for even better grip.
