These male rod ends provide good strength for a very modest price. The ball and housing are made from heat treated alloy steels. The ball is hard chrome plated, and the housing is coated for corrosion resistance.

The two-piece construction consists of an inner ball and a body which is deformed around the ball. This results in a distinctive "pancake" appearance, with a very thin head. The lack of a separate race between the body and the ball typically results in a much shorter fatigue life than 3-piece rod ends, particularly under racing conditions. These two-piece rod ends are also less precise than most 3-piece rod ends. They are suitable for non-critical joints operating under low stress levels, but many builders will not allow even the best two-piece joints on a racecar. There is no option for a PTFE liner, which means that these rod ends must be kept clean and lubricated manually.
