The new Arai GP-7 builds on the popular GP-6 series helmets worn by F1 and IndyCar drivers. The shell is still hand-laminated using a complex composite developed for F1, with the fibers specially oriented for maximum strength with flexibility. The shield pivot has been moved down for increased side protection. Revised inlet vents and added exhaust vents further improve cooling and aerodynamics. You get the well-known Arai styling and performance, with protection that meets or exceeds Snell SA2020 and FIA 8859 standards.

The GP-7 features a narrow (60mm high) eyeport that is ideal for high-speed open wheel racing. A special visor locking/lifting lever on the left side makes it easy to open the visor, even with gloves on and hands pumped full of adrenaline. Inlet vents on the chin and across the forehead take in cooling air, and multiple exhaust ports in the rear lets the hot air escape. The GP-7 is FHR-ready, with M6 female threaded receptacles in the shell for your head/neck restraint device anchors (anchors sold separately). Available in gloss White or Black Frost pearl. Includes one clear face shield.

SA2020 is the latest Snell Foundation rating for automotive racing helmets. This helmet rating has been developed to provide the best safety protection for auto racing drivers who are restrained in their vehicles. SA2020 helmets are tested for flame retardance, and additional tests ensure compatibility with HANS® Devices. An SA-rated helmet may not meet DOT specifications for street use, such as on motorcycles.

SIZING: Helmets should fit as snug as possible without causing discomfort. Measure head circumference around the largest part of the head approximately one inch above the eyebrows and just above the ears. If a one or two layer Nomex hood will be worn with the helmet, it should be worn when measuring head circumference. If a hood is not available, add about 1/4 inch to the circumference measurement for a single layer hood and 1/2 inch for a double layer hood.
