Motul DOT 5.1 is a 100% synthetic glycol-based brake fluid that far exceeds DOT 3 and DOT 4 specifications. Bottles are filled with nitrogen to extend shelf life and eliminate contamination while factory sealed. Very high wet and dry boiling points help prevent vapor lock and fade, even after a year of typical road use. Motul DOT 5.1 is formulated with a lower viscosity than most DOT 4 fluids to prevent foaming in ABS systems.

* Part of the DOT 3 / DOT 4 / DOT 5.1 requirements are that brake fluids meeting these specifications MUST be compatible with any other DOT 3, DOT 4, or DOT 5.1 fluid. The use of DOT 5.1 fluid is appropriate in any braking system calling for DOT 3, DOT 4, or DOT 5.1 fluid. Motul DOT 5.1 has been formulated to be perfectly neutral and anti-corrosive to all seal materials designed for DOT 3/4/5.1 fluids (including old British seals). DOT 5.1 fluids are not compatible with DOT 5 (silicone based) or LHM (mineral oil).
