Oil Filter Sandwich Plates
A sandwich plate mounts between the engine block and the oil filter to allow the addition of an oil cooler without relocation of the filter. This eliminates the added expense and weight (and potential leak points) of a remote filter head and associated hoses. Sandwich plates also retain the same filter thread as stock. If your car takes an 18mm filter, the sandwich plate will too!
Plumbing a sandwich plate is simple. On the O-ring side of the plate (the side which faces the engine block), you will see a hole connected to one of the two ports. The port that is connected to that hole takes oil out TO the cooler. The other port will be connected to a hole on the filter side of the plate (the side which faces the filter). That port returns oil FROM the cooler. The oil then goes through the filter and back into the engine via the center threaded stem.
