A pressure-relieving bypass valve in your sandwich plate helps to avoid pressure spikes from cold oil, but a thermostat valve provides more accurate control.
Setrab sandwich plates have M22 female ports to accept any Setrab M22 O-Ring Port Adapter Fittings (sold separately). This polished billet aluminum plate has a 20x1.5mm filter thread and a 2 1/2 inch O-ring diameter. The built-in thermostat allows cold oil to bypass your oil cooler while still being directed through the filter. When the oil temperature reaches 180°F / 82°C (+/- 10°F or +/- 3°C), the thermostat closes to force all of the oil to go through the cooler.
A 1/8 NPT female port on the back side of the plate (plugged from the factory) provides a convenient spot for an electric temp gauge sender (not included). The thickness of the plate is 1 inch so be sure to check for filter clearance.
