This spring is part of the accelerator pump mechanism on Weber DCOE and DCO carburetors. When the throttle is closed, the pump rod pulls the piston up and compresses this spring. Opening the throttle releases the rod, and this spring pushes the piston downwards to shoot fuel through the pump jets.
This "068" spring is the second-weakest spring listed. Current production carbs are fitted with the very weakest "064" spring as standard. A stronger spring may decrease the length of time that the accelerator pump discharges, providing enrichment for a shorter period of acceleration. A stronger spring also causes the pump piston to follow the throttle movement more closely, which may cause a richer mixture than desired for mild "in town" driving. This spring is a good compromise for spirited road driving and occasional track use.
Sold individually; one required per carburetor. Does not include pump rod or piston.
