When installing Insert Nuts and Rivet Nuts, you must be careful to prevent them from turning while being tightened. The hex-shaped collar of these tools has hardened teeth which help to prevent rotation of the insert while it is being compressed into the work piece. These tools will work with our Insert Nuts (Part No.'s 655-Size) or Rivet Nuts (Part No.'s 650-Size), but you must have the correct thread size.
Tools Required |
Size | Wrench Size for Tool Body | Wrench Size for Bolt |
10-32 | 9/16" | 5/32" Hex Key |
1/4-28 | 9/16" | 3/16" Hex Key |
5/16-24 | 9/16" | 1/2" Wrench |
Note: These are light-duty tools designed for occasional use. They are ideal for keeping in your toolbox for trackside repairs. If you need to install more than a few Rivet Nuts, or dozens of Insert Nuts, our Double-Action Lever Rivet Nut Tool (Part No. 1185-004) is ideal.
