These general purpose inserts will work on any metal part over .030 inch thick, even in solid materials. When properly installed and used, they provide excellent resistance to pull-out and torque-out. They protrude only .015 inch above the surface and can be made completely flush by slightly countersinking or dimpling the mounting hole. The material for these inserts is plated steel.
Use our Rivet Nut / Insert Nut Installation Tools (Part No. 659-size) to install these inserts.
Note: The part being fastened (the removable part) must bear directly against the rim of the insert. If the removable part has an over-sized hole or is a soft material such as fiberglass, a washer should be used between the insert and the part to provide a bearing surface directly against the insert.
